Equalization tanks Stability and uniformity for optimal operation

Our technologies ensure constant mixing and maintain stable levels, preventing stagnation and ensuring safe, efficient water distribution.

Application: Equalization tanks

Intelligent mixing for stable operation

Flow equalization tanks are designed to buffer flows to a wastewater treatment plant with variations in influent flow due to diurnal variation and wet weather events. Mixing is required in these basins to maintain solids in suspension, preventing deposition and equalizing load to the treatment plant.

A BioMix™ Compressed Gas Mixing System provides energy-efficient mixing while also accommodating significant variation in operating water levels. BioMix allows for adjustments in mixing intensity, mixing effectively at levels as low as just a few feet and exceeding the capabilities of jet or mechanical mixing.

For equalization tanks, a CAMix Cyclic Aerated Mixing System provides energy-efficient aeration and mixing for mixing limited applications. CAMix provides bottom-up mixing, with nearly no low-level limitations, exceeding the capabilities of jet aeration or floating aerators.

Benefits that make a difference

Innovative mixing control for equalization tanks

Energy Efficiency

  • Unequaled mixing efficiency of less than 0.1 hp / 1000 ft3
  • Proven O&M savings of more than 50% compared to jet or diffused air mixing.

Straightforward Operation

  • No in-tank moving or wearing parts.
  • Non-clog, maintenance free performance.

Process Optimization

  • Operator-adjustable firing parameters that enable ideal mixed conditions without deposition and minimum energy input.
  • Promotion of optimal conditions for biological nutrient removal processes upstream of BNR selectors.

Unparalleled Flexibility

  • Variable mixing intensity based on operating depth.
  • No low-level limitations – ability to mix at any liquid depth.
  • Compatible with any tank geometry or configuration.
  • Nozzle headers installed along the slope of the floor, eliminating “dead spots” in cone bottom tanks.
